The Gypsy — Dragon Con 2026

An AI rapid-development experiment: started 7:15 AM in a Waffle House, live before the badge line moved. The story

Richard mentioned this page at his morning talk. To be clear: this is not a page for his next game, yet. Perhaps one day. Hear about it first

Dragon Con 2026 is over and the schedule below is a keepsake, not a plan. Back to the front page

The wagon is lit. Enter when thou art ready.

Tap to enter and allow the microphone. Thy phone's own ears turn thy words to text and the Gypsy answers aloud; the dot turns green when she hears thee. While she speaks, tap her to interrupt. Or type below. Ask what's on now, where a room is, or let the cards choose thy path.

About this experiment: built with AI in one morning

The Gypsy was made to answer one question: can a single person with an AI partner ship a working Dragon Con guide in a morning? Work began at 7:15 AM on Friday, September 4, 2026, in a Waffle House, and the site went live at 8:34 AM Eastern while its author stood in line waiting for a badge.

In that window the AI read the plan, scraped the entire official schedule (3,650 events, 905 guests, 339 vendors, 62 mapped rooms, every shuttle and hours-of-operation document), built this voice guide on Inworld's realtime speech stack with gpt-oss-120b, wrote the Ultima IV virtue reading, painted the Gypsy, and deployed it all to this server. The data refreshes itself every thirty minutes for the rest of the con.

For Richard. A small proof of what a game team can build with AI in a morning, in the spirit of the wagon at the start of the Quest of the Avatar.

A note after the talk. Richard mentioned this page during his "State of Video Games" panel on Friday morning. So that no one is misled: this is not a page for his next game, yet. It was built to prove how fast a small team can move with AI. Whether the wagon rolls on toward something bigger is a question for another day.

Built with Claude Code, Inworld AI, and Cerebras. Unofficial fan project; not affiliated with Dragon Con, Origin, or Electronic Arts.
